This model can be constructed as a packing of snub cubes
in alternating left and right handed versions (colored red and green respectivily)
connected by their square faces leaving only triangles connected 8 at each
vertex. The snub cubes are connected in alternating right and left handed
versions. The VRML model colors the right handed ones red and the left
handed ones green. I found this figure in the book "The Geometrical Foundation
of Natural Structure" by Robert Williams although I doubt he realized that
the figure constituted an infinite regular polyhedron.
