MagicCube4D Hall of Fame
This page is devoted to documenting the milestone achievements by all the brilliant 4D cubists. There are several categories of milestones that deserve proper recognition. Each category tends to have two variations: First person to reach that milestone, and the person with the shortest no-macro solution to it. Macros allow the user to define sets of moves that can be automatically replayed. They remove much of the tedium involved in solving these sorts of puzzles. (Macros are currently only supported in the Linux version of MagicCube4D.) Using macros that you develop is not cheating, but milestones achieved using them should not be compared with ones that don't.
The most important milestone category is clearly
that
of solving a fully scrambled 4D cube. Only a few people in the
world have ever achieved that goal and they clearly deserve much
applause.
Don Hatch, who is one of the authors, was almost certainly the first
person
in the world to solve the full 4D cube in or around 1988. This page
will
continue to list all known solvers along with all other significant
achievements.
Note that although record holders in "Firsts" categories will hold
their
records forever, records in "Shortest" categories are always at risk of
being broken. Names and links to shortest log files will be updated as
those records are broken.
We hope these lists will grow and we
encourage
you to attempt to join this elite group. Please email
us with any questions and especially with your solution log files.
We also have a Yahoo mailing list you can join but
don't think you must
solve it before getting into the discussion. everyone with an interest
in the subject is welcome.
Also as mentioned on the main 4D page, Roice Nelson recently wrote a 5D version of this puzzle. Please be sure to see his 5D Hall-Of-Insanity for the completely certifiable solvers of this monster.
